Two days before I saw a video on my friend’s face book which involves some group of people beating and burning a person alive. When I asked what it is all about he said that’s the way it is in Nigeria. There is no official policing system or a judicial body to safeguard laws. He said the person that is burned alive is a thief who stole some things from a local market, and that’s the way the people punished him- burned alive. He also added that there is no body like human rights agency or any other of that sort to take notice of these things and this is how the society takes it, capital punishment for all kinds of crimes.
During that brief conversation he shared an experience of an encounter with a group of burglars engaged in a dacoit. They were able to do it for a full three hours moving from one house to another before the cops came in the next morning.
We may blame the government, the economy or any other person for all these kinds of activities that happen around us. There is a lot of inequality going around us. A person in one part of the world has to know no pains, while the other dies of desperation. We all go through our own lives no matter what.
